    Japanese pop star Namie Amuro unveils plan to retire in 2018

    Twenty-five years after making her debut, popular Japanese singer Namie Amuro announced her plans for retirement on Wednesday (20 September), the same day as her 40th birthday. Amuro posted a notice on her website in Japanese and English, saying "I, Namie Amuro, would like to take this opportunity to inform all of my fans of my decision to retire as of September 16, 2018."
