If you tuned into the Miss Universe competition on Sunday hoping that host Steve Harvey might, well, pull a Steve Harvey, you’re probably wishing you could get the last three hours of your life back. But for pageant purists — those special individuals who believe a woman’s worth is valued, even partially, by how she looks […]
Iris Mittenaere from France won the 65th Miss Universe title on Monday (30 Jan). She beat 85 other contestants who competed in the pageant that was held in Manila, the Philippines. The show was again hosted by US comedian Steve Harvey, who fortunately announced the right winner in this year’s pageant. Harvey made humiliating gaffe last year when he mistakenly announced Miss Colombia instead of Miss Philippines as the winner.Mittenaere, 23, is studying to become a dentist and comes from a small town called Lille, located in Northern France. The second runner-up spot went to Andrea Tovar, 23, from Colombia while the first runner-up went to Raquel Pelissier, 25, from Haiti. The finalists who made it to the top six were France, Kenya, Colombia, Philippines, Thailand and Haiti. The finalists who made it to the top nine were the USA, Thailand, France, Mexico, Kenya, Colombia, Canada, Haiti and Philippines.Photo credit: Miss Universe Organization

Steve Harvey is under fire after accidentally crowning the wrong winner of the Miss. Universe 2015 pageant last night, in what is perhaps the most awkward piece of live TV that you will see all week. In the painstakingly uncomfortable viewing, Miss. Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, has the $30,000 crown removed from her head just two minutes after she was announced as this year’s winner of the coveted title. Whilst Ariadna blew kisses to the audience and held back tears of joy, host Steve Harvey took to the stage and said: “Folks, I have to apologise.
Just as swiftly as the Miss Universe crown was given to — and then taken away from — Miss Colombia Sunday night, host Steve Harvey quickly issued a public apology for his role in the mix-up.“I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines for my huge mistake,” the talk-show host tweeted. “I feel […]
And the winner of Miss Universe 2015 is....not Colombia! The Internet reacts to THAT moment when host Steve Harvey announced the wrong winner.
Well, this is awkward. Sunday’s Miss Universe 2015 ended with host Steve Harvey naming Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the evening’s top winner… only she was really the first runner-up. That means that Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach, who’d previously been named first runner-up, was actually the new beauty queen. “I have to apologize,” Harvey said […]
This Sunday, women from 80 different countries will compete for the Miss Universe title, and the judges and audiences are expecting glossy lips, glamorous blowouts, and smoky eye makeup — along with the Brazilian tans and dangerously high stilettos. But last night, current Miss Universe Paulina Vega of Colombia asked the contestants to share their barefaced selfies with the world on social media. “Every #MissUniverse is #ConfidentlyBeautiful. Are you? Show us your no-makeup selfies,” Vega Tweeted, including a no-makeup selfie of herself. Not surprisingly, the contestants who voluntarily shared their no-makeup selfies had enviably even skin tones, glowing complexions, high cheekbones without contouring, and charismatic smiles — this is the highest form of a beauty humblebrag. But if you’re looking forward to the theatrics of the Miss Universe on Sunday night, you may want to check out these selfies first. It is interesting that a lot off these women, most in their late teens or early 20s (Vega is 22), actually look much younger (and fresher) without the Miss Universe-approved makeup and blowouts. Maybe the pageant should think about some makeunders.Related:From Saran Wrap to Scotch Tape: 15 Pageant Beauty Secrets#TBT The First Miss Universe PageantBiracial Miss Japan Ariana Miyamoto is Changing Perceptions of Beauty in Japan
