The 59th London Film Festival kicks off in the capital tonight, giving movie buffs a chance to see some of the best unreleased films, classics, documentaries, shorts and world cinema. Among this year’s hot tickets is screenwriter Abi Morgan’s ‘Suffragette’, which launches the festival with a celebrity gala tonight, including appearances from Brendan Gleeson, Ben Whishaw and Sam West. Telling the story of the struggle for women’s suffrage at the turn of the 20th century, it stars also Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep and Helena Bonham Carter.
