Hong caused a stir in local showbiz recently when she renounced her longtime friendship with Pan through a lengthy text message that she sent to 50 friends.
In the wake of her love life being thrown into the spotlight following a public spat between veteran Channel 8 actresses Hong Huifang and Pan Lingling, actress Julie Tan revealed that she experienced an abusive relationship in the past. Speaking to Singapore’s Chinese media on Tuesday (24 July), Tan, 25, said that she was abused physically and verbally by the unnamed boyfriend whom she dated in 2016. Tan was responding to the media about her past relationships after it came to light that Pan allegedly advised Hong’s son, 18-year-old Calvert Tay, to get vaccinated against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) as he was thought to be dating Tan.
Local stars and Hong Huifang's family have taken to social media to give their take on Hong's public fallout with fellow Mediacorp veteran Pan Lingling.
Channel 8 actress Pan Lingling has apologised to local actress Julie Tan and her family after Tan’s mother, Doris Khaw, threatened legal action against Pan for casting aspersions on her daughter. Pan allegedly told Tan’s rumoured boyfriend Calvert Tay, the 18-year-old son of fellow actress Hong Huifang, to get vaccinated against STDs because of Tan’s multiple past relationships, according to Hong in an angry rant that she texted to at least 50 friends.
