Aladdin and Jasmine were voiced by white actors in the 1992 original. Aladdin fans and decent human beings can rest easy after an open casting call for Disney’s live-action remake made it clear the film is looking for Middle Eastern leads. Set to be directed by ‘Snatch’ and ‘Sherlock Holmes’s Guy Ritchie, the remake is on the look-out for two actors aged 18-25 to play lead pair Aladdin and Jasmine.
Aladdin is about to get some wallop, with news that Disney is eyeing up Guy Ritchie to helm a live-action version of the classic tale. It’s reportedly all thanks to producer Dan Lin, who worked with Ritchie on his revisionist ‘Sherlock Holmes’ movies, and will be collaborating with Disney for ‘Aladdin’.
