With the arrival of the June holidays, a favourite family activity is to catch a film in theatres together. Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.
Forget wine or gold bullion – it’s time to sink all your savings into vintage Walkmans. Thanks in no small measure to Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ always having his unit to hand, the original portable Sony cassette player is getting a new lease of life. The TPS-L2 model, the specific player used by Pratt in the movies and the first to be manufactured by Sony in Japan, back in 1979, is of particular value.
Turns out, Chris Pratt is extremely good at making prank phone calls. The “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” star made an appearance on BBC Radio 1, and was ordered to make a call to a random location and start every sentence with the next letter of the alphabet. Pratt called an exotic pet store in the United Kingdom to ask about caring for his stick insect — but as the call went on, it sounded more and more like he was describing “Guardians” fan favorite, Groot.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is ramping up its production line this year with three films instead of its usual two: ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and ‘Thor: Ragnarok’. It’s a signal of intent from Marvel and one of confidence in the hugely successful cinematic universe model which began with ‘Iron Man’ in 2008.
Crossovers between films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been coming fast and furious, with a certain Master of the Mystic Arts and the Asgardian God of Thunder the latest pairing (Doctor Strange and Thor). It started with D’Onofrio tweeting on Wednesday (7 Dec) that “Guardians of the Galaxy” was up there as one of his favourite Marvel films, and that he expected Gunn to top it with the second movie.
Whilst on the comeback trail with his new movie ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ earning enthusiastic reviews, Mel Gibson has taken a stab at the current big boys of blockbuster cinema. From his Oscar-winning ‘Braveheart’ to ‘The Passion of the Christ’ to ‘Apocalypto,’ Gibson’s directorial works have long been noted for their harsh, unflinching, some might say fetishised depictions of violence.

Marvel sci-fi adventure ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ has been named Hollywood’s most-deadly, according to a new study. The study, carried out by comparison website Go Compare, tallied the amount of on-screen fatalities in Hollywood films since the 1940s and found that in 'Guardians’ 83,871 meet an unfortunate end. The 'Lord of the Rings’ series, 'The Matrix Revolutions’ and fellow Marvel movie 'Avengers Assemble’ also made the top 10, which you can see in full below.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’ director James Gunn has responded to rock legend Steven Tyler’s plea for a cameo in a third film in the series. While too late to make an appearance in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’ next year, Gunn is certainly open to working with the Aerosmith frontman in the future. “Yes, I did hear that Steven Tyler wants to be in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’” Gunn said in a Facebook Q&A video.
It seems like we can anticipate something truly spectacular from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,’ if the word of its cast is anything to go by. Vin Diesel has already presented himself on video looking absolutely flabbergasted after seeing some early footage of the film – and now Chris Pratt has made a bold declaration about the Marvel sequel. Speaking to the Toronto Sun, Pratt explained he was “not allowed to say anything” about the movie (pretty standard), but did let slip, “it’s finished and it’s going to be terrific.
Stan Lee is one of the awesome recurring elements we expect from the latest Marvel movie, so it’s good news that he’s confirmed for a bunch more. During Toronto’s Fan Expo, Lee appeared on Breakfast Television to discuss his future roles, as minor as they are, but it’s something fans do look forward to. Lee will feature in next month’s ‘Doctor Strange’, followed by ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2′, and the hugely anticipated ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
Since ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ hit cinemas with a bang in 2014, the immortal words “I am Groot” have been deeply embedded in the popular consciousness. The extra-terrestrial sentient tree, voiced by the appropriately gravel-throated Vin Diesel, is famously only capable of saying those three words (and, as viewers will recall, one minor variation thereon) – and yet, the emotional resonance of that single phrase proves remarkable at times. Of course, it’s understood that while “I am Groot” is all that Groot can say, the phrase takes on infinite different meanings according to intonation, which only his BFF Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) can decipher.
After the success of James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ in 2014, it’s no surprise fans are drooling over next year’s sequel. While speaking to Empire, director James Gunn revealed it was actually Pratt’s idea to cast the legendary Russell in the role of his father/giant face planet, Ego.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ hero Nova could be heading to the big screen. During a live Q&A with Yahoo! Movies UK, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actor Peter Serafinowicz hinted that the classic comic book character may be heading to the big screen. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ saw Peter Serafinowicz suiting up as Denarian Garthan Saal - a high ranking officer of the Nova Corp who seemingly sacrificed his life during the siege on Nova Prime.
With ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ proving to be the surprise hit of 2014, a sequel was never in question. Ravagers leader Yondu (Michael Rooker) is back, probably not best pleased after Star-Lord tricked him by offering up a fake orb, but he’ll either serve as a subplot antagonist or an ally.
