    Robert Rodriguez looks set to become the Duke of New York, A-number one. The revered cult filmmaker has entered into talks to call the shots on the long in-development remake of 1981 sci-fi action thriller ‘Escape From New York,’ according to The Hollywood Reporter.     Luc Besson Found Guilty Of Plagiarising Escape From New York

    The initial ruling ordered studio EuropaCorp to pay €10,000 (just over £7,300) to director Carpenter, a further €20,000 to  the writers (Carpenter and Nick Castle), and €50,000 to Studiocanal, the film’s current rights holders.     Long in development at 20th Century Fox, a new take on John Carpenter’s dystopian sci-fi thriller has no director or star attached yet, but according to The Hollywood Reporter it now has a writer in the form of Neil Cross.
