UPDATE 2 -- Kim Chiu can finally call herself a Disney princess.
According to a report on TV Patrol, the Walt Disney Company chose the Kapamilya actress to portray Mulan in a 2015 calendar to be distributed in Southeast Asia.
Star Magic also posted Walt Disney’s official statement on its Instagram account:
“We confirm that Kim Chiu is part of an upcoming Disney project in Southeast Asia. We will share more details on this in the coming months.”
Kim wore Mulan’s signature costumes, a pink hanfu and an army uniform. Mulan is a girl who disguised herself as a man to take her father’s place in the army.
Her Twitter username also happens to be ‘princesachinita.’
“Achievement ko siya sa buhay kasi childhood dream ko maging isang Disney princess. Nung in-offer sa akin, parang nakakatuwa na nakakaiyak,” Kim said in an interview on TV Patrol on Thursday, October 9.
“Mulan” is a Disney animated film released in 1998. It is based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan.
