Yahoo! OMG! Philippines Awesome Young Actress Award winner and “Mara Clara” star Kathryn Bernardo says there’s no competition between her and co-star Julia Montes. In fact, they’re happy for each other’s achievements.

Kathryn won in the first-ever Yahoo! OMG! Philippines Awards held Tuesday night, June 21, at the Republiq Bar in Resorts World, Pasay City.

She won over Julia and GMA-7 teen artists Bea Binene and Barbie Forteza.

OMG! Philippines.

When Julia learned about Kathryn’s win in the Yahoo! OMG Awards, she immediately congratulated Kathryn.

She also mentioned her other co-nominees who are also happy for her win. “Sila Barbie, sila Bea. Wala naman pong personalan. So masaya po ako na nakuha ko yung award,” Kathryn told the press.

Kathryn and Julia are always compared and pitted against each other in “Mara Clara.” Their rapport is such that Kathryn and Julia topbill shows and movies together, in much the same way their predecessors in “Mara Clara,” Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes, did.

First Award

The “Awesome Young Actress” Award is the first Kathryn has received.  This makes the award more memorable to her.

Fans of Kathryn, who won based on an online poll, supported their idol even if Kathryn has not been tweeting about the voting process.

Kathryn and Julia just wrapped up “Mara Clara” and are doing another TV series again together. “We’re both happy kase sabay naman naming inaabot yung mga pangarap namin,” Kathryn added.

Working non-stop

The young actress has been working non-stop. Kathryn is working on a movie and a new teen TV series, also with other cast members of “Mara Clara.”

“With Albie and Julia, nakaka-ilang shooting days na po kami at talagang pinaghihirapan namin. Then, ibang-iba siya sa TV,” Kathryn describes the new movie.

Kathryn is also working again for a teen TV show with her other onscreen partner, Diego Loyzaga, who is also being linked to her. “Yung dinner namimis-interpret ng mga tao yun. Pero wala naman po talaga. Yes, nagko-communicate pa rin po kami. Magkasama kami sa teen show din so nagkikita pa rin po kami,” Kathryn goes on.

With all the blessings coming her way, Kathryn feels overwhelmed and thankful of the achievements she is getting even after the success of her TV series. Awards, salamat,” Kathryn said.
