Jericho wins acting achievement award at Newport Beach Filmfest

Jericho Rosales has done the country proud by winning an acting achievement award in an international film festival

The Pinoy actor was cited for Outstanding Acting Achievement at the Newport Beach Film Festival for “Alagwa” (Breakaway), an indie film on human trafficking which he co-produced.

Jericho’s manager Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano announced the good news via SMS to Yahoo! Philippines OMG!

A separate text message from Manila Genesis Entertainment read: "Echo won!!! Outstanding achievement in film acting for 'Alagwa' at Newport Beach Film Festival."

Angeli added that Jericho is still in Los Angeles, where the “LA Times” interviewed him, and will be back in  Manila on Friday, May 10.
The film’s director, Ian Loreños,  was there to share Jericho’s tiiumph. According to the film’s Facebook page, Alagwa  is inspired by a popular urban legend about a child's disappearance in Chinatown Manila. The film uncovers the dark facets of the underground business of human trafficking in the Philippines.

Jericho tweeted on May 1 that he plans to show “Alagwa” in Manila soon.The film has won honors from a host of award-giving bodies in the Philippines and has made the rounds of other international film festivals.
