13 Pinoy TV programs vie in New York Festivals

New York Festvals announce 2015 finalists, including 13 shows from the Philippines (NYF website)

Local TV networks are vying as finalists in this year’s New York Festival's World's Best TV & Films competition.

GMA has eight entries, ABS-CBN got four, while TV5 has one.

The award-giving body “honors programming in all lengths and forms from over 50 countries.”

The awards rites will be held in Las Vegas at National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in April.

Tough fight

ABS-CBN’s “Umagang Kay Ganda- Wrath of Haiyan” is competing against CNN, which has five nominations in the same category. GMA’s “Front Row (ALS)” competes against Radio Television Hong Kong “The Hong Kong Connection: The Enclaves” for Best Public Affairs Program.

In 2014, GMA received 1 Gold World Medal for Tunay na Buhay (Real Life): Mga Sanggol at Langaw (Infants Among Flies); three Silver World Medals; three Bronze World Medals and four finalist certificates for different programs.

ABS-CBN won one Silver World Medal, one Bronze Medal and three finalist certificates.
