Marvel Studios revealed some key details at San Diego Comic-Con about its first woman-led Marvel Cinematic Universe story, “Captain Marvel,” that has longtime fans intrigued. UPDATED, 6:06 PM: Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed at Comic-Con what we already knew: Samuel L. Jackson is coming back as Nick Fury — but he’ll have two eyes. What does that mean? Captain Marvel takes place before the other MCU films, even before Iron Man, in the 1990s. Marvel execs gave us the very first look at Brie Larson as Carol Danvers in her “Captain Marvel” uniform. The Captain Marvel costume is absolutely incredible and comic-book accurate. The costume is an updated take to what Kelly Sue DeConnick did with “Captain Marvel” in the 2012/13 Marvel comic run.
Brie Larson won’t star in her first ‘Captain Marvel’ movie until 2019, but anticipation for the character’s arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is already super-high – after all, she’ll be the first female superhero to star in her own MCU movie. The lengthy stretch between Marvel announcing Larson had been cast in July 2016 and the start of production on ‘Captain Marvel’ (which we estimate will be around the start of 2018) gives her plenty of time to prepare for the very important role.
