The most iconic female video-game character ever is having a birthday. Tomb Raider‘s Lara Croft, the puzzle-solving, weapons-wielding archeologist with an uncanny knack for falling into supernatural adventures, turns 20 this year. To mark the auspicious anniversary, game publisher Square Enix is releasing a tricked-out updated version of the last Tomb Raider installment, Rise of the Tomb Raider, on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander, who grew up a fan of the game, will be suiting up for a film reboot arriving in 2018.
“Jason Bourne” is a spy action thriller that’s the fifth in the “Bourne” franchise. Jason Bourne returns to butt heads with the CIA when new information about his past resurfaces. It stars Matt Damon (Jason Bourne), Tommy Lee Jones (Robert Dewey), Alicia Vikander (Heather Lee), Vincent Cassel (The Asset), Julia Stiles (Nicky Parsons), and Riz Ahmed (Aaron Kalloor).
Alicia Vikander has reassured ‘Tomb Raider’ fans that her Swedish accent will be well-hidden when she plays aristocratic archaeologist Lara Croft in the upcoming movie reboot, saying she feels “extremely intimidated” by the iconic role. Vikander is taking over the role from Angelina Jolie who played the character in two movies - ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ and ‘Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life’ - but she promises the new film will be a unique take on the story.

It used to be that you could tell a member of “new Hollywood” by the dress she wore to an awards show: something youthful, prom-like and, quite possibly, a bit pouffy. But not anymore. These days, Hollywood’s up-and-coming class is chock full of fashion-forward females who can hold their own at an awards show. Wearing designers from Gucci to Chanel Couture and Calvin Klein Collection, these young women bring just as much magic to their red carpet dressing as they do to the roles they play onscreen.

What do you get when some of the most amazing women in Hollywood come together for one night only? For the 22nd Annual ELLE Women in Hollywood Awards, held on Monday night at the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on Monday, Kate Winslet, Carey Mulligan, Alicia Vikander, Amy Schumer, Ava Duvernay, and Meryl Streep, were all honored with trophies in addition to their magazine covers. Shailene Woodley, who walked her first red carpet in months to honor her Divergent co-star Winslet, Zoe Kravitz and her boyfriend Twin Shadow, Nina Dobrev, Mary J. Blige, and Johnson’s entire family — Tippi Hedren, Melanie Griffith, and Stella Banderas — were all in the audience.
Hurrah, the final day of Fashion Month is here! And what better way to go out with a bang than the Louis Vuitton show, one of the most influential collections of every season. On this sunny Wednesday morning, artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière filled the Frank Gehry-designed Louis Vuitton Foundation with 32 tons of high definition screens — making you feel as though you were inside a video game, or as the designer referenced it, “a multi-dimensional digital canvas for a fantasy world.” They projected images of owls, digital motifs, and as the show started, a man talking in a robotic tone about unleashing the potential of your imagination. It was a trippy start (especially sans coffee), although there was nothing virtual about the impressive front row that included Catherine Deneuve, Grimes, Michelle Williams, Alicia Vikander, Kelela, Adèle Exarchopoulos and many more.
The first poster of Eddie Redmayne as transgender pioneer Lili Elbe has been unveiled. The Oscar-winning ‘Theory of Everything’ star is the lead in 'The Danish Girl’, about the transformation of Danish artist Einar Wegener into Elbe in 1920s. Redmayne stars opposite Alicia Vikander, who plays Elbe’s wife Gerda Gottlieb, also a painter. Over time, Elbe continued to dress as a woman, and eventually they moved to Paris from Copenhagen, where he could live openly as a woman and Gottlieb could be openly lesbian.
