Taco Bell Is Releasing a Crispy Chicken Sandwich That’s Somehow Also a Taco
It’s been over a year since the Chicken Sandwich Feuds began, and we’ve been treated to all sorts of amazing fried chicken items since then. However, perhaps nothing has been so exciting, so utterly strange, and so innovative as this new chicken sandwich taco from Taco Bell. Yes, I said CHICKEN SANDWICH TACO!!!
Taco Bell announced it was releasing the Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco this week in select markets. Now, you might be asking, So, what is this?? Is it a sandwich or a taco?? It’s both, according to Taco Bell. It’s made with crispy chicken that’s marinated in jalapeño buttermilk, seasoned with “bold Mexican spices,” and rolled in a tortilla-chip coating so it gets nice and crunchy. It’s served in a “puffy bread” shaped to look like a taco. It’s then topped with signature creamy chipotle sauce, and the spicy version (because every chicken “sandwich” needs one!) also has jalapeño slices on it.
If you’re eager to give it a try, it’s set to be tested at participating Taco Bell locations in Nashville and Charlotte, North Carolina, starting on March 11, when you can get it for $2.49. But don’t worry, it’s expected to hit menus nationwide later this year. In case that wasn’t enough good news for you, Taco Bell also let us know that it wouldn’t be the only crispy chicken innovation arriving in 2021, so hold on to your hats! And you thought the return of the Spicy Potato Soft Taco would be the biggest T-Bell news of the year!
