Sylvia Chang wins two awards at the Asian Film Awards

23 Mar – Although her movie had a total loss at the previously held Golden Horse Awards, Taiwanese actress-filmmaker Sylvia Chang can now smile as she was named Best Actress at the Asian Film Awards.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress who won for her role as an unhappy wife and mother in the movie "Love Education" which she wrote, directed, and starred in, admitted that she was surprised when the presenter announced her name as the winner.

"I want to thank everyone involved in the making of the movie. Thank you all. The movie couldn't have been made into a movie without you," she said.

Aside from Best Actress, Sylvia was also honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

In her speech, Sylvia thanked each and every director that she has worked with in the past, especially those who have helped with her growth in the business, and expressed her hope to one day work with them all again.

The filmmaker added that she has always been sincere in doing her job, in sharing her stories and feelings with her audience, and that winning an award was never the focus.
