This superhero movie wants John Cena as part of its cast

John Cena was last seen starring in last year's "Bumblebee".

18 Apr - Can you see John Cena playing a superhero in a DC movie? Or maybe playing a villain?

His role is not known yet but what is certain is that he is in talks to join "The Suicide Squad", as reported by Variety.

Cena, who starred in last December's "Bumblebee" and will be in next year's "The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle" and "Playing With Fire", will have the "Suicide Squad" sequel lined up next once the deal is sealed.

Cena's so far acted in comedy, action, sci-fi action and drama films as well as lent his voice to animated films but his appearance in "The Suicide Squad" will mark his first comic book role.

Since the production of the sequel has been rocky, there's really not much info on it at the moment. So far only there have only been updates on the casting.

Will Smith is definitely out but his character Deadshot will not be recast as the character will not be in the sequel. Idris Elba, who was initially reported as Smith's replacement, is still part of the cast but his role is unknown.

Margot Robbie, who was previously reported to be leaving, has been confirmed to return as Harley Quinn and Jai Courtney will also be reprising his Captain Boomerang role.

Helmed by James Gunn, "The Suicide Squad" is set to take over North American cinemas on 6 August 2021.
