Returning with their latest album, The Renaissance - The 10th Album, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun opens up about a past breakup on JTBC’s Mysterious Record Shop show while talking about breakup etiquette.

MC Yoon Jong Shin had asked fellow MC Kyuhyun “How do you break up with someone?”, to which he replied, “Of course you have to talk about it.” His reply was met with silence from the MC team, prompting a follow-up question from Yoon, asking if anyone had broken up with him.

“No, I have been dumped before. I feel you should probably meet in person or call them on the phone to break up with them,” Kyuhyun elaborated. “When I was dumped in my first year of high school, I was told over the phone, ‘Let’s break up.’”

The 33-year-old explained that he eventually met up with his now ex-girlfriend, saying that they should talk about it in person, even if they end up splitting ways. “But in the end, I realised that you become sadder if you meet in person (and broke up). It might be better to just end things over the phone.”

Kyuhyun had previously made news when he spoke about receiving calls from ex-girlfriends. “I just pick them up,” he said. “I don’t think of them calling me because they miss me. I accept the calls because I think they had accidentally called me.”
