Sue Ramirez denies new movie copies "Carrie"

The actress says it's normal for a movie to have a similar theme and scenes as other films

21 Sep - Actress Sue Ramirez has dismissed speculations that her upcoming horror movie, "The Debutantes" copies the horror classic, "Carrie", as reported on Push.

Allegations that the movie is similar as the hit 1976 and 2013 adaptation of the Stephen King novel sparked following the release of the movie's trailer, which showed Ramirez's character being publicly humiliated on stage during her 18th birthday celebration.

When asked about it recently, Ramirez stated that while there may be scenes that look familiar to people, it's something that can't be avoided.

"There are a lot of movies being made around the world. It just so happens that our movie came out after "Carrie". But it's not [the same]. She's not Carrie. There are also five of us," she said.

Ramirez clarified the misunderstanding about her involvement in the movie, saying that while her image is bigger than the other girls, they all play a big role in the movie.

Directed by Prime Cruz, the movie co-stars Miles Ocampo, Michelle Vito, Jane de Leon, and Chanel Morales.

It is scheduled for release on 4 October.
