This Stunning Hotel in the Italian Dolomites Has a New Private Villa — and It Comes With a Butler, a 46-foot-long Pool, and Breathtaking Mountain Views
Relax and unwind at the ultimate Italian wellness escape.
For over a century, the rugged beauty of the Dolomites — with its jagged peaks rising above lush meadows and hills — has attracted wellness travelers the world over. Now, a new generation of health-focused retreats dots the mountainside, and one of the area's standout options is Forestis Dolomites — a boutique, adults-only hotel located 5,900 feet above sea level on a sunny hillside just outside of the small town of Brixen. In December 2024, the property added a stunning 13,000-square-foot villa, giving guests a truly private escape in the forested landscapes of South Tyrol.
The serene property was commissioned in 1912 by the Austrian monarchy and was originally intended to be a tuberculosis sanatorium. However, due to World War I, it was never fully completed. Many years later, hotelier Alois Hinteregger purchased the spread in 2000 and thoroughly restored and modernized it — the property now has amenities like a heated pool, a spa, and a gym. The hotel rebranded to Forestis in 2020 and truly feels like the ultimate wellness sanctuary now.
The new villa can accommodate up to 10 people and has five guest rooms with king-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms, and oversized picture windows. Though there's plenty to do and see in the Dolomites, there's much to keep guests of the villa busy, too. Guests can pick up a book from the on-site library, enjoy a bottle of wine and some appetizers in the stone cellar, plan a movie night at the theater, or simply cuddle up with a hot drink by the fireplace. But best of all, you don't need to lift a single finger during your entire stay — the villa comes with a dedicated staff, including a butler, a personal driver, a concierge, housekeepers, as well as a private chef. But, if you'd like to "dine out," you can head to the restaurant on the main Forestis campus, which serves Alpine-inspired cuisine.
Throughout the interior of the villa, guests can expect minimalist design with thoughtful historic touches — keep your eyes peeled for original details like wood floors, exposed beams, and doors. The use of materials such as stone, glass, sand, and clay gives the space an earthy atmosphere and echoes the serene landscapes that surround the property.
Outside, guests can relax in the villa's private garden, which features a 46-foot-long indoor/outdoor pool, bar, lounge, and a cozy fireplace with views of the forest and the rocky peaks looming beyond. If you need to completely unwind and relax, head to the private spa within the villa, which offers nature-inspired treatments (such as the "tree circle ceremony," drawing upon ancient Celtic rituals) as well as a sauna, steam room, and a cold plunge pool.
Rates for the villa at Forestis Hotel start from $20,000 per night. Forestis is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World community.
