Strictly’s Catherine Tyldesley reveals good luck charm from her son

Strictly Come Dancing is officially back and one of this year’s contestants Catherine Tyldesley has the best support from her son.

The Coronation Street star is mum to 4-year-old Alfie who loves to dance himself and he has made a lucky charm to see her through the competition.

Speaking on Lorraine today, the actress, 35, said: “My son Alfie loves to dance and he loves the show so he’s really excited.”

The Eva Price star explained that her made her a good look mascot.

“He’s made me a sparkly unicorn called Sylvia,” she gushed.

“So she comes everywhere with me now, she’s very involved with Strictly – she’s fabulous!”


The Strictly launch show aired on Saturday and Catherine has been paired with Johannes Radebe.

She also revealed how she is “terrified” after finding out what her first dance will be.

“It’s just so much to think about, so detailed. I’m terrified, I am genuinely terrified and when Johannes showed me the routine, it looked amazing,” she said.

“Then I got involved and not so much.

“He’s beautiful, he’s a beautiful dancer. I could watch him all day, so I really want to do him proud.

“I’ll give it 110%. There’ll be a lot of coffee, a lot of carbs and hopefully we’ll get there!"
