It’s Bad news for for Stranger Things fans – series three has just been officially delayed.

It had been hoped that fans would be returning to Hawkins, Indiana, some time later this year, but it’s now confirmed that the hit sci-fi series won’t land until the summer of 2019.

But Netflix’s Cindy Holland assured fans not to panic, and that it will be the best series yet.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour (via Entertainment Weekly), she said: “It’s a handcrafted show. The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy, they understand the stakes are high.

“They want to deliver something bigger and better than last year. I think it’s going to be a fantastic season. It will be worth the wait.”

“It’s a really exciting season, just takes a little more time,” she added.

Fans got somewhat overexcited for an approaching new season earlier this month, after a teaser trailer arrived online.

In a form of a fake ad for a new mall in Hawkins, Joe Keery’s Steve Harrington sports a dazzling sailor’s hat while advertising ice cream joint Scoops Ahoy.

He’s spied with new character Robin, played by Maya Hawke, daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, and star of the BBC’s 2017 adaptation of Little Women.
