‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Is a Go at Netflix: Watch First Teaser Trailer (Video)

Netflix will continue to get stranger: The streaming giant has renewed Internet phenomenon “Stranger Things” for a nine-episode Season 2.

The episodes will drop in 2017, with co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer returning as executive producers along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen.

Netflix is calling the outing “Stranger Things 2.” According to the cryptic announcement trailer (above), the action will take place in 1984. There’s a “Mad Max” shout-out, references to a pumpkin patch and a secret cabin, a boy who came back to life, and a lost brother.

In interviews before the official greenlight was given from Netflix, the Duffers have indicated they’ll be dealing with the repercussions of the events that unfolded across two dimensions in the first season. (Spoilers in the next paragraph.)

There are still big questions about what exactly lost brother Will (Noah Schnapp), who spent most of the season in a nightmare dimension called the Upside-Down, brought back with him; and whether Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour) has managed to find a way to communicate with Eleven, the telekinetic girl everyone thinks was destroyed.
