‘Stranger Things’ Gets the ‘Charlie Brown Christmas’ Treatment in New Mashup (Watch)

You’re a good man, Will Byers.

A new “Stranger Things”/”Charlie Brown” mashup hit YouTube on Thursday morning, titled “Merry Christmas Will Byers.” Created by filmmakers Leigh Lahav and Oren Mendez, the three-minute short follows “Stranger Things” character Byers upon his return from the Upside Down. Traumatized by the experience, he’s unable to get into the Christmas spirit.

Lahav and Mendez’s video features almost all of the favorites from the hit Netflix series, including Eleven, Dustin, and the Demogorgon himself. Will’s mom even makes an off-camera cameo — though in true “Peanuts” fashion, her voice is drowned-out with the series’ iconic “wah wahs.”

“Sometimes, I think you just can’t talk to grownups, unless it’s through light-up letters on a wall,” Byers says.

The short — voiced by Alex Jebb Quine, Dylan Neumeyer, Nicholas Polley, and Rylan Bailey — ends on a happy note for Will, who is reminded of the love and support that surrounds him daily. However, the jolliness ends abruptly as the shot cuts to a nearly-deceased Barb covered in worms, who utters “good grief” before the credits roll.

“Stranger Things” has been renewed for a second season, set to stream on Netflix in 2017.
