1. How did you start becoming a beauty blogger?

Passion! I have always had an obsession with make-up and it grew into a career. I started off being a professional make-up artist at 17, doing back-to-back shoots after school.

However, due to a conflict of interest with my current design job, I had to put down my brushes and concentrate on the fashion runways. My love for beauty still burned strongly, so I started sharing reviews and all the latest launches on my Instagram and blog.

2. Can you describe what a typical day is like for you?

My day doesn’t start if I am not fed with a good cup of coffee.

It will then be a day of scouring the net for the latest fashion trends and covering the latest beauty launches in the evening.

My days are usually pretty packed, but I will always find an hour at night to burn off the excess stress-snacking calories.

When my stress levels are at their peak, I will jet out of Singapore for a week to detox and explore a new city.

3. What’s your morning beauty regime?

Oh, it’s intense. Definitely cleansing first, and following up with my beauty skincare essentials. I start off with L’Occitane’s Divine Youth Oil for optimal product absorption. Then, I pat in Fresh’s Black Tea Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence before going in with my “holy grail” product, IDS Skincare Pore Formula & C+ Serum. I cannot live a day without my IDS Skincare because it is the only thing that keeps my skin from breaking out.

To maintain my skin’s youthful bounce, I apply Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate and moisturise with Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Magic Cream. It has SPF in it, but I will still go a step more by applying the Astalift White Perfect UV Clear Solution.

Because you know what people say, prevention is better than cure when it comes to sun protection.

4. What’s your night-time beauty regime?

Everything above, but minus sunblock. I will remove my make-up with Medicube’s Red Cleansing Pad before toning with Clinique’s Anti Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion. I will then go in with all the skincare goodness after.

Usually, I will also pamper my skin with a sheet mask or a sleeping mask before heading to bed. Laneige’s Water Sleeping Mask is a classic choice, but I am currently enjoying ORBIS’s Night Time Pack Koubijin & Kenzoki’s Belle de Jour Fantastic Fluid as well.

5. What are your current favourite beauty products? Why?

IDS Skincare. Trust me, if you have any skin woes, they will take care of it. My cystic acne was cleared up in just a month with zero oral medications. All I did was to apply my prescribed skincare religiously and my skin transformed! Other than that, my beauty skincare essentials mentioned above are really amazing as well.

Make-up wise, I am currently enjoying Urban Decay’s All Nighter Foundation. On good skin days, I will opt for a lighter option which is the new Make Up For Ever Lumi-Mat Cushion Foundation.

I also find myself reaching out to Laneige’s Eyebrow Cushion-cara as well as the cushion blusher. Cushions seem to be used for everything right now! For the lips, the Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Liquid Lip Crayon blew me away with first swipe! It glides on so smoothly.

6. What is the most common beauty mistake you have heard or seen Singaporeans making? How would you wish to correct it?

Applying foundation that is two to three shades lighter than their skin tone. Embrace your colour, if not, blend it well down to your neckline.

It is not cute to sport a mask of foundation with a distinct difference compared to your natural skin tone. If you really need to appear fairer, try Aprilskin’s Perfect Magic Snow Cream as a base and apply your foundation down to your neck. Blend well!

We need to put a stop to the nasty phantom mask foundation faux pas.

7. Is there a beauty secret that you swear by?

Drinking lots of water and never forget to moisturise your skin! Most skin problems occur due to the lack of ample moisture. I also love applying Vaseline on my lashes before going to bed.

To prep your lips for a matte liquid lipstick, brush off the dead skin with a damp toothbrush and moisturise well with a lip balm. Wait 10 minutes, blot off the excess balm with a tissue before going in with the heavy-duty liquid lipstick.

8. How big is your beauty collection now?

Ridiculously huge and probably comparable to a tiny Sephora!
