Steven Spielberg to helm DC Comics' "Blackhawk" movie

18 Apr – With a variety of genres under his belt, director Steven Spielberg will now be taking on a comic book movie next.
The Academy Award-winning filmmaker is set to develop "Blackhawk", a DC Comics character who leads a small team of World War II ace pilots simply called the Blackhawks.
"Blackhawk" will be Spielberg's first attempt in bringing the comic book genre to life after experimenting with 2011's "The Adventures Of Tintin" which was a 3D computer animated movie filmed solely using motion capture.
"We are so proud to be the studio behind Steven Spielberg's latest hit, and are thrilled to be working with him again on this new action adventure," said Toby Emmerich, President of Warner Bros., in a press release.
Spielberg will reunite with frequent collaborator David Koepp who will write the screenplay for "Blackhawk".
Despite this exciting news, the movie would not appear in cinemas anytime soon, as Spielberg stated that he will be finishing off his other movies first namely "West Side Story", "The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara", and the fifth "Indiana Jones" movie before proceeding with "Blackhawk".
Spielberg's latest offering is this year's "Ready Player One" which opened with a total of USD41.8 million at the box office made it his highest-grossing debut weekend ever.
To date, the film has made over USD475 million worldwide.
