11 Jul – Stephy Tang is honoured to win the Screen International Rising Star Asia Award at the 16th New York Asian Film Festival.
As reported on Oriental Daily, the actress who accepted the award at the event held in New York shared to the audience that she became more passionate about acting after 17 years in showbiz, despite starting as a singer.
"Each character is a new life. Although I am no longer considered a newcomer, I would always remember not to forget how I start. I would continue to be curious about everything and face my challenges like a first timer," she said.
Stephy also took to Instagram to express her thoughts about the award, saying, "It was the first time that I won an award outside of Asia. I was nervous, excited, and happy. I have been recognised by everyone once again. I am so very grateful. Thank you, New York Asian Film Festival."
Her movie "The Empty Hands" was also screened at the festival as one of their official selections.
Stephy is the first Hong Kong actor to win the said award, which was previously bestowed to stars such as Philippines' John Lloyd Cruz and Japan's Sometani Shota.
Last year, it was awarded to Thailand's model-actress Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying.
