Stephen Shu Jr. to remake Japan's drama, "Under One Roof"

11 Jul – HMV Digital China recently revealed that it will be producing the remake of "Under One Roof", a 1993 Japanese drama that became a big hit in its time.

According to HK01, producer Stephen Shiu Jr. reportedly has confirmed reports of the project, which will star Julian Cheung in the lead as the eldest brother, played originally by Yosuke Eguchi.

The actor will be joined by Pakho Cheung, who will play the second son (originally played by Fukuyama Masaharu), and Shiga Lin, who will play the adopted daughter previously played by Noriko Sakai.

Other stars include Justin Cheung (third son), Babyjohn Choi (youngest brother), and Larine Tang (fifth child and youngest daughter).

Aside from the five actors, the drama will also be joined by Myolie Wu and Chrissie Chau.

The original drama, "Hitotsu Yane no Shita" tells the story of Kashiwagi, the eldest of six siblings who struggles to reunite his four biological siblings and their adoptive sister after being separated during childhood into different foster homes following their parents' death.

The first season was broadcasted on Fuji TV in April 1993 with the highest audience rating of 34 percent, later becoming a hit around East Asia. The second was aired four years later, and received high ratings as well.
