Stephen Chow files lawsuit for illegal use of photo
10 Aug – Comedy auteur Stephen Chow has recently sued a building material company for the illegal use of his portrait.
As reported on UDN, the filmmaker recently brought the case to the Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People's Court, after it was revealed that the company has continued to misuse his photos in several internet advertisements, and failed to act upon his demands for the images to be taken down.
According to sources, despite already being warned about the illegal use early last year, it was discovered that the company still published a magazine ad using his portrait that September.
Stephen is now seeking an estimated RMB 30 million in compensation from the said company.
