You don’t have to wait for the next #ThrowbackThursday to take a step back into the past, as the Peranakan Museum’s Armenian Street Party brings the past to you this weekend. Held on 10 and 11 March from 6pm to midnight on Armenian Street, here are some highlights you can look forward to at the party:

  • Balek Sekolah

Date: 10 March 2017
Time: 8pm.

Singapore’s very own Peranakan band, Peranakan Sayang, will be belting out some of the best 80s music with a twist. Get into the Peranakan tradition of dondang sayang and dance along to the beat.

Detention Class at the Armenian Street Party is an interactive space that celebrates creativity and playfulness, the two things that might have landed you in detention back in school. The space demonstrates how even the most austere of spaces can reward people with unexpected sources of jests and joy.

Everyone knows the story of Romeo and Juliet, but not everyone is aware of the funnier Romeo and Ah Lian. Performed by Centre Stage, the classic Shakespeare tragedy is given a Singaporean twist, featuring a lovestruck youth and his street-smart girlfriend.
