State media confirms Fan Bingbing is "under control"

12 Sep – A state-run publication has recently confirmed reports that actress Fan Bingbing is currently placed "under control" over suspicions of being involved in a tax evasion scandal.

As reported on Epoch Times, the publication, Securities Daily stated that the actress has been undergoing investigation and will "accept the legal decision".

It is stated that Fan is also suspected of participating in illegal lending and other forms of corruption.

On the other hand, Fan's upcoming projects, including the already problematic "The Legend of Ba Qing" and the sequel to Feng Xiaogang's "Cell Phone" have been postponed and has the possibility of being shelved altogether.

As for her upcoming Hollywood film, "355", it is previously alleged that Zhang Ziyi may replace her instead.

The whole situation sparked in May, when a TV anchor, Cui Yongyuan claimed that "someone" has been paid a hefty amount of money for a four-day work, and has been signing yin yang contracts - in which an artiste or a company signs two different contracts to avoid paying a hefty amount of tax.

Although both Fan's rep and Cui himself denied that she was the person in question, she had since been missing in action, prompting many to speculate that she is under investigation.

At the same time, the scandal has now rocked the Chinese entertainment world, with many artistes reportedly worried about signing contracts and being the next in line to be investigated by the authority.
