Starz to Adapt British Comedy ‘Peep Show’ for US
Starz plans to adapt the hit half-hour British sitcom “Peep Show” for U.S. audiences. The U.K. version recently concluded a nine-season run across the pond.
Shot entirely from the first-person point of view of its two main characters, that “Peep Show” received two BAFTAs, a couple of British Comedy Awards and a pair of Royal Television Awards.
The series centers on two dysfunctional friends who share their lives while trying to adjust to the professional world.

Series creators Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong will be consulting producers on the stateside version.
Objective Media Group America’s Jimmy Fox and Layla Smith will serve as executive producers with Greg Lipstone, CEO of All3Media America.
Eli Jorne will write the pilot and serve as executive producer/showrunner. Senior Vice President of Original Programming Ken Segna and Director of Original Programming Patrick McDonald will be the Starz executives in charge of “Peep Show.”

“We are hugely relieved to hand over the responsibility of coming up with the dark and twisted thoughts of two terrible men to the extremely funny, dark and twisted Eli Jorne,” Bain and Armstrong said in a joint statement.
“I feel lucky to be working with Starz again,” Jorne said. “And I’m, of course, grateful to Sam and Jesse for entrusting me with nine seasons’ worth of insightful, darkly hilarious material that I can hopefully pass off to American audiences as my own.”
“‘Peep Show’ gives a unique spin to relationship comedy — it’s a great opportunity for Starz to innovate in the half-hour space,” said Carmi Zlotnik, Starz’s managing director.
