Stars expresses support for Hualien earthquake victims

13 Feb – Stars, both local and international, recently took to social media to express condolences and give their support to the victims of the Hualien earthquake that occurred recently.

As reported on Mingpao, Japanese comedian Kazuhito Kosaka - known to many as Pikotaro - left a message in Chinese via Twitter, saying, "I am concerned about the earthquake in Taiwan. Have courage!"

He added in English, "We are with Taiwan!"

Taiwan-born Japanese comedienne Naomi Watanabe also expressed similar support, saying, "Come on, Taiwan! Come on, Hualien!"

Taiwanese singer Chou Tzuyu, who is part of the K-pop idol TWICE, posted on Instagram, "I hope that the terrible earthquake will not reappear. I pray that everyone is safe and not a lot of damage has been done."

Shu Qi posted similar message, adding that she hopes that the relief work will go on smoothly.

"Resident Evil" star Milla Jovovich also took to Facebook to express her support, writing, "I hope that the Taiwanese people are safe."

In the aftermath of the magnitude-6.4 earthquake on 6 February and the following 5.7 quake that came a day after, it was revealed that the death toll is now at 10, although seven people are still missing.
