Star Wars: Han Solo spin-off finds its cinematographer

‘Han Solo’ spin-off adds cinematographer Bradford Young.

It’s no secret that Han Solo is returning to the big screen for his very own ‘Star Wars’ anthology movie. Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the upcoming Han Solo spin-off is already confirmed to star Alden Ehrenreich in the leading role.

And now it looks as though the film is beginning to crew up.

Appearing on Twitter, the film’s co-director Chris Miller revealed that ‘Arrival’ cinematographer Bradford Young is on board for the upcoming Han Solo movie.

“Very excited,” he said, linking to a tweet from The Film Stage.

“Bradford Young, the immensely talented cinematographer behind Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Selma, and A Most Violent Year, has just secured his biggest gig yet,” they revealed. “Kris Tapley has confirmed he’ll be shooting Phil Lord and Chris Miller‘s Han Solo prequel film.”

Although Bradford Young’s impressive work can be seen in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming sci-fi thriller ‘Arrival’, he’s perhaps most famous for his work on Ava DuVernay’s ‘Selma’ as well as tackling ‘Middle of Nowhere’, ‘Ain’t Them Bodies Saints’ and ‘A Most Violent Year’.

But the Han Solo film is likely his biggest project to date.

The film apparently “focuses on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.”

The Han Solo movie will star Alden Ehrenrecih as Han Solo.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller will direct, based on a screenplay by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan.

The untitled ‘Han Solo’ movie heads to cinemas on 25 May 2018.
