Star Wars Episode 8 officially titled The Last Jedi
Disney and Lucasfilm have announced that the eighth live action ‘Star Wars’ film will be called ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.
The news was announced earlier in a post on StarWars.com that acknowledged the long-running sci-fi franchise’s hardcore faithful.
“We have the greatest fans in this or any other galaxy. In appreciation of the fans, we wanted them to be the first to know the title of the next chapter in the Skywalker saga: STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI.”
There’s also a teaser poster of sorts and we have to say we’re HUGE fans of the new red title treatment that harks back to the ‘Revenge of the Jedi’ era…

The three-word title is a break with tradition for the franchise. The previous two mid-trilogy titles ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Attack of the Clones’ were four-word titles leading fans to speculate up the wrong tree, but the beauty of ‘The Last Jedi’ as a title is that Jedi is both the singular and plural of the word, so it refers to Luke Skywalker AND Rey at the same time.
