Star Wars: Daisy Ridley On Speculation That Rogue One Character Is Rey's Mother

Daisy Ridley has addressed speculation that Felicity Jones’ character in ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ may be the mother of her character in 'The Force Awakens’.

Fans began to deliberate the possibility after seeing 'Rogue One’s first trailer, and at the MTV Movie Awards Ridley was asked about it.

Speaking to MTV the 24-year-old actress said: “I’m not being funny, you guys, but just because she’s white and got brown hair… it doesn’t mean she’s my mum.”

The popular opinion is also that she’s the offspring of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker, something that will be addressed in 2017’s 'Episode 8’.

Ridley though wonders why people care so much about Rey’s parentage.

“I think the amazing thing about ['Episode 7’] is that Finn and Rey don’t come from anywhere, and they find a place… So to me, it’s funny that people think it’s so important, because I don’t really think it is.”

The MTV report states that Ridley does know who Rey’s parents are, so perhaps her words are revealing.

Addressing 'Episode 8’ - which Ridley is currently shooting with director Rian Johnson - the actress said it was a “darker film” and said she doesn’t consider Rey a Jedi. Not yet anyway…

When 'Episode 8’ hits December next year, Rey is sure to have some questions for Luke Skywalker, but for now we’ll just have to wait for the awesome-looking 'Rogue One’ which will be released on 16 December 2016.
