Star Trek Beyond Trailer Coming With Star Wars 7

It looks as though the upcoming ‘Star Trek’ sequel will soon be getting its first official trailer… and it’s rumoured to appear before ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the ‘Star Trek Beyond’ trailer will beam down alongside the first of the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ sequels.

“May the force be with rival Hollywood studios trying to get their trailers placed before Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” they said. “One studio already prevailing is Paramount, which will unveil a promo for Star Trek Beyond tied to Force Awakens.”

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ opens across the UK on 17 December 2015… and with record-breaking box office sales before the film is even on the screens, it’s easy to see why most Hollywood studios would want their trailers to appear alongside it.

But perhaps ‘Star Trek Beyond’ always had a bit of an edge…

“It’s no surprise that the latest installment in the Star Trek series would get favored treatment,” they said. “Abrams, whose Bad Robot production company is based at Paramount, produced Star Trek Beyond after directing the first two films in the revitalized franchise, Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013).”

Given that J.J. Abrams has since headed off to the galaxy far, far away, it makes perfect sense that ‘Star Wars 7’ might also give a little shout out to Bad Robot’s latest project.

And given the target audience…. It just makes perfect sense all round.

But ‘Star Trek Beyond’ isn’t the only movie desperate to get a trailer ahead of ‘The Force Awakens’.

“Other 2016 tentpoles likely to secure trailer placement include Warner Bros.’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25), Universal’s The Huntsman’s Winter War (April 22), X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27) and Independence Day: Resurgence (June 24)… And that doesn’t include potential promos from Disney, whether The Jungle Book (April 15), Captain America: Civil War (May 6) or Finding Dory (June 17).”

‘Star Trek Beyond’ heads to cinemas on 22 July 2016.
