Star Cinema sticks with Angel Locsin as "Darna"

5 Sep - Fans of Angel Locsin and female superhero Darna will be happy to learn that Star Cinema has no plans to change the original star of the upcoming movie.

As reported on Philstar, Star Cinema head, Malou Santos admitted that there will not be any other actress to play the role of Darna except for Locsin -confirming rumours that the studio has actually been waiting for the actress to get better following her previous spine problem.

Last year, Locsin announced her withdrawal from the film project after being diagnosed with a disc bulge in her spinal cord, which was caused by doing her own stunts in her 2008 movie, "Love Me Again".

On the other hand, it was also reported that Jessy Mendiola, who was previously rumoured to be replacing Locsin, has already been told that she won't be getting that part.

"Darna", a character created by Mars Ravelo and Nestor Redondo in 1950, has been portrayed by many actresses in the past, including Vilma Santos, Marian Rivera, and Sharon Cuneta.
