SINGAPORE — In a special edition of the Star Awards held at Changi Airport and the Jewel Changi mall on Sunday (18 April), Qi Yuwu and Zoe Tay took home the top acting awards of the night, while A Quest To Heal received the Best Drama Award.

The annual Chinese entertainment awards ceremony brought together four national brands – Mediacorp, Changi Airport, Jewel Changi, and Singapore Airlines – in an apparent effort at boosting the aviation and travel industries, which have been hit hard by COVID-19.

Qi Yuwu and Zoe Tay were crowned Best Actor and Best Actress respectively for their roles in A Quest To Heal and My Guardian Angels.

It was Tay's second time in a row receiving the Best Actress award after her 2019 win.

Bryan Wong received the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in A Quest to Heal, while Best Supporting Actress went to Kym Ng for her role in Daybreak.

Dasmond Koh received the All-time Favourite Artiste award, which is given to artists who have previously made it to the annual list of Most Popular Artistes 10 times.

The Breakfast Quartet was the inaugural winner for the Best Radio Programme, a brand new award this year for local Chinese radio.

On the variety front, King Of Culinary and Fixer 3 were awarded the Best Entertainment Programme and Best Infotainment Programme respectively, while Quan Yi Fong clinched the Best Programme Host award – her fourth time receiving the award in a row.

Also announced was the highly anticipated list of Top 10 Most Popular Female and Male Artistes, a key highlight of Star Awards. These winners emerged from a bumper crop of 60 nominees for this year’s celebration. The number of nominees for the coveted Most Popular Artistes awards was increased from the usual 40 because last year's awards were cancelled due to the pandemic.

The seven-hour-long show began at 3.30pm with a live commentary marathon. The stars then walked the red carpet from 5pm onwards at a unique venue – the tarmac at Changi Airport with an SIA Airbus A350-900 as a backdrop. Check out all the red carpet looks here.

From 7pm, the main awards ceremony unfolded at various locations within Changi Airport. The main stage was located against the backdrop of the Shiseido Forest Valley and the HSBC Rain Vortex at Jewel, while prizes were presented at four different locations across the airport's Terminal 4.

These included local stars like Fann Wong, Jeanette Aw, and Mark Lee, as well as overseas A-listers like Ella Chen, Kevin Tsai, Matilda Tao, Chung Hsin-ling, James Wen, Lau Dan, Lawrence Cheng, Gordon Lam and Sandra Ng, who joined the show live from satellite studios in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

A repeat telecast of Star Awards 2021 will be aired on Channel 8 on 25 April from 2pm onwards. The show can also be streamed on-demand on meWATCH or Mediacorp's YouTube channel.
