Stand a chance to fly to Berlin for a month-long of music learning

Aspiring musicians, hear this! How would you feel like going to Berlin next year to learn, sharpen and exchange music knowledge with various music experts and peers?

Because if you love to, this is your chance as the prestigious, long-standing global music institution committed to fostering creativity in music – Red Bull Music Academy (RBAM) is back to host the next edition of its month-long music workshop and festival series next year in Berlin.

The Academy returns to the place where it all began back in 1998 to celebrate its twentieth anniversary, and YOU can be part of it too!

The 2018 edition will see sixty up-and-coming musicians get selected and flown to Berlin, embarking on a creative journey that many describe as life-changing.

At the Academy, the selected ones will get to hear lectures from artistes who have shaped music history, exchange knowledge in all-night sessions in the Academy's custom-built studios, and collaborate with their peers from opposite corners of the globe.

Meanwhile, the Academy simultaneously programmes a month-long series of public concerts and club nights all across the city.

Last year, Malaysia's experimental musician The Venopian Solitude was one of the few who got selected by the jury to participate in the distinguished music programme, making her RBMA's first ever Malaysian alumnus.

"It was an opportunity of a lifetime. I got to learn from the likes of Thundercat, Kaytranada, as well as Arcade Fire's Win Butler, and I strongly encourage you to participate," said The Venopian Solitude, also known by her pseudonym Takahara Suiko.

Interested applicants can download the application form from the Academy's website at redbullmusicacademy.com, and be sure to submit it by 4 September 2017.

Each applicant must also submit a musical demo, no longer than thirty minutes. This can be uploaded at redbullmusicacademy.com/apply or mailed to the Academy on a CD.

Selected applicants will then be announced in early 2018.
