Pop star turned actor Matt Willis has paid tribute to Marvel legend Stan Lee, calling his final big screen appearance ‘f***ing brilliant’.

Lee, the co-creator of Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man and many more Marvel characters, makes a cameo in Willis’ new film Madness In The Method.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the Busted star said of Lee’s appearance: “It’s a big cameo he’s got, it’s a good chunky bit. He’s on screen for a while. He’s f***ing brilliant in it, I watched the movie for the first time the other day and it was really nice to watch him.

“It’s not a sad moment, it’s a joyous moment.”

The comic creator is well-known for making movie cameos, with his final Marvel cameo coming in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. He never got to see the MCU’s epic finale though, as Lee died in on 12 November, 2018 aged 95.

However, Willis says Madness In The Method will be Lee’s last ever film appearance.

“I think that’s the last time he was on camera, it’s his last cameo,” Willis explains.

“He’s done so many cameos over the years and it was really nice to watch him do his thing. It’s nice to see him being awesome.”

Directed by Jason Mewes of Jay and Silent Bob fame, meta-comedy Madness In The Method will have its European Premiere at FrightFest on 24 August.

Mewes, best known for his association with Kevin Smith, plays a version himself in the film, which sees him hatching a plan to change people’s perception of him in the movie business.

“Did the plan involve a killing spree, a wide scale police investigation and international press scrutiny? Probably not, but whatever works, right?” adds the film’s synopsis. “Can Jason get away with murder and climb his way to the top of Hollywood or is it all just the fantastical ‘mewesings’ of an insane ex drug addict?”

In the film Matt Willis, 36, plays a casting director who refuses to consider Mewes for any kind of role other than the ones he usually plays, which leads to a confrontation. In recent interview the director called the EastEnders star “a brilliant actor”.

The film also stars Vinnie Jones, Gina Carano, and Dean Cain.
