"Squid Game" veteran star says no to chicken deal

11 Oct – Although his role as Player 001 was a very prominent one in the hit Netflix series, "Squid Game", veteran actor Oh Young-Soo seemed to have not been fazed by the sudden popularity at all.

It was recently revealed that netizens have actually been calling for a famous chicken place in South Korea called Kkanbu to make the 76 year-old their new spokesperson, due to Oh's character being "kkanbu", or ally, to Lee Jung-Jae's Seong Gi-Hun in the series.

However, the said brand revealed that they have already done so and that Oh has rejected the offer.

"We have voiced our intention to do an advertisement with him, but he said that as an actor, he wanted to stick to his job," they said.

It is noted that despite his role in the series, Oh has not appeared in many interviews or programmes since the series blew up, with his only upcoming appearance being Yoo Jae-Suk's variety show, "How Do You Play".
