‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is expected to do well…

And it could lead to a staggering opening weekend.

According to Box Office Pro, the upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ solo film is expected to do rather well… and after weighing up some pros and cons, they predict a rather impressive box office debut.

In fact, they’re expecting a domestic opening weekend of $135 million, and a $325 million domestic total.

Obviously, this would be a huge result for Marvel’s webslinger.

But will it really happen?

The reasoning, it seems, is that all the previous ‘Spider-Man’ movies have pulled in huge numbers… and even though this is yet-another franchise reboot, it’s likely that the name alone is going to pull a crowd.

Add to this, the fact that Tom Holland’s portray in ‘Civil War’ was widely applauded, and it seems Marvel is onto a winning combination.

And a $135 million opening weekend definitely isn’t far-fetched.

Not when ‘Spider-Man 3’ managed $151 million.

The factors against the upcoming reboot? Well, there could be a certain amount of ‘Spider-Man’ fatigue, what with this being the third time around. And following the likes of ‘Wonder Woman’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ with big names such as ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ coming shortly afterwards, could put ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ in a precarious place.

Still, I can’t help thinking that Spider-Man is still a big enough draw to rake it in at the box office.

But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ stars Tom Holland as Spider-Man. He’s joined by Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr, Angourie Rice, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Bokeem Woodbine and Michael Keaton.

Jon Watts directed the movie based on a script he co-wrote alongside Jonathan Goldstein, John Francis Daley, Christopher Ford, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ heads to cinemas on 7 July 2017.
