"The Sparring Partner" actress deny coercion claim to appear topless
22 Nov – A contract actress for Philip Yung's movie, "The Sparring Partner" has denied a previous viral anonymous letter alleging that the production team has forced two of its actresses to perform topless in the movie.
The anonymous letter, which was released on Facebook a few days ago and claimed to be written by a crew member of the team, stated that two special contract actresses were made to remove their clothes to shoot a scene despite only initially agreeing to only show their bare backs.
The letter further claimed that they submitted to the pressure due to language barrier, which was in breach of their contracts, and were paid HKD500 in addition to the agreed fee.
One of the actresses, Suen Wo Hei had since denied this allegation, saying that her husband was with her during the shoot.
"But if I was faced with anything unfair and unjust, I would stand for myself. I wouldn't even need anybody to speak up for me," she said, stressing that she understands Cantonese and had no language barrier issue.
On the other hand, Philip Yung, who produced the movie, stated that there is no truth to the allegation, and that the team and the actresses have already had an agreement prior to filming.
