Sorsogon's Miss Universe rep happy for Heart Evangelista's support
20 Feb – Miss Universe Philippines hopeful Maria Isabela Galeria couldn't help but feel fortunate to be receiving support for her participation from the first lady of Sorsogon herself, Heart Evangelista.
As reported on PEP, Galeria, who spoke to the media after the red-carpet event of Miss Universe Philippines 2020 held at the Manila Hotel recently, shared that Evangelista even helped her with her look at the event.
"This dress is by Mark Bumgarner and my hairstyle, she suggested this last night, because she was doing the same hairstyle last night," she enthused.
Galeria stated that they didn't get as much support last year as Evangelista husband, Governor Chiz Escudero was not the governor yet.
"But now that he is the governor of Sorsogon, she's really hands-on and she's doing everything to help me," she added.
The assistance includes the "TeleMed / TeleDoc" program, which the aspiring beauty queen said will allow patients from far-flung areas of Sorsogon to virtually consult a doctor using smartphones and an Internet connection.
"My advocacy is for better access to healthcare. The priority in Sorsogon now is health access, so that's how Telemed happened. It's just perfect timing because of what the governor and Miss Heart are doing in Sorsogon, it's also my advocacy and I can help. I take part in every medical mission I can go to," she said.
This is Galeria's second time trying her luck on the beauty pageant, after placing top 15 in the 2019 Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
