"Someday or One Day" to get Chinese remake?

31 Jul – Rumours are rife that a mainland studio is planning to do a remake of the hit Taiwanese series, "Someday or One Day".

As reported on ET Today, sources recently claimed that despite the series only concluded its run in February this year, there were talks that iQiyi will be making a Chinese version that would star NINE PERCENT's Chen Linong and former K-pop idol Zhou Jieqiong.

The new series will reportedly be renamed to "Time Machine" and start filming next month, and that both actors will play the roles previously helmed by Greg Hsu and Alice Ko.

However, some netizens are questioning the validity of this rumour, seeing that the National Radio & Television Administration (NRTA) has already issued guidelines that include a rule of a subject needing reasonable scientific explanation, which means that the time-travel element of the drama may make it difficult for the project to get the approval needed.

On the other hand, others are objecting to the remake due to the fact that the original series had just ended.

When asked about the rumour, original star Alice Ko stated that it would be very difficult for the other production if such a remake is to be made, as netizens will naturally compare the two versions.

"There will be a lot of pressure into filming it," she added.
