Solskjaer tears Man Utd ‘snowflakes’ apart and claims several stars would have flopped under Sir Alex Ferguson
Former Manchester United striker and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has blasted the current crop of players, calling them ‘snowflakes’ and revealing how they would not have coped with the brutality of Sir Alex Ferguson or Roy Keane.
Solskjaer was in charge of Man Utd between March 2019 and November 2021, following an initial spell as caretaker manager. The Norwegian was sacked by the Red Devils after a dreadful 4-1 defeat to Watford, which left them seventh in the Premier League.
Michael Carrick was named as caretaker boss before Man Utd appointed Ralf Rangnick until the end of last season. They are now managed by Dutchman Erik ten Hag, who has guided them to the Carabao Cup trophy and an FA Cup final during his first season at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer has yet to return to management since his Man Utd spell. But recently he has been opening up on his time managing his beloved Man Utd, as well as his career as a whole.
Solskjaer has named who he would like take over at Man Utd once Ten Hag leaves. The 50-year-old, who played for Man Utd between 1996 and 2007, has also explained how he tried to get the club to sign Erling Haaland for an incredibly low fee during his time at Molde.
And now, Solskjaer has labelled the current Man Utd dressing room ‘horrendous’ and revealed how the stars would not have survived brutal rants from Ferguson and Keane.

“My best mate’s daughter said to me a few weeks ago, ‘You’ve got quite a lot of hair for a man your age’,” Solskjaer said during an interview with The Athletic.
“I didn’t know if it was a compliment or if she was having a go at me. At least I’ve got some. It’s greying, but that’s just the players. Managing players — it’s horrendous.
Solskjaer bemoans Man Utd ‘snowflakes’
“The lads in that dressing room [during his playing days at United] were absolutely fantastic.
“Keano was the leader, the one everyone looked up to. David May was the joker, the clown. Gary [Neville] is still the busiest and was the busiest back then as well. Nicky [Butt] and Giggsy [Ryan Giggs] were the entertainers.
“It was just a fantastic dressing room. Winners, who hated losing. They had a few fights, like you should do, after bad games. You had to shake each other up.
“If you do that to the boys now, they will get their dad, or their mum, or their agents… snowflakes.
“Not many of today’s lot would have survived in that dressing room.”
Ten Hag will certainly be aiming to shift some of the dead wood in his dressing room this summer. TEAMtalk has been told big-money flop Anthony Martial will be put up for sale, while he could be followed out of the door by Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay and Brandon Williams.
Meanwhile, Man Utd are ‘serious’ about signing one of Kim Min-jae’s Napoli team-mates as well as the defender, as per a report.
