Social Media Star Hayes Grier Injured in Car Accident

Vine star and “Dancing With the Stars” alum Hayes Grier was in a car accident Thursday, according to his older brother Nash Grier.

“Just got a call on set that said Hayes was in a crash. He’s now in the hospital,” Nash tweeted. “Damn I hate hearing s— like that on the phone scared me to death.”

Grier’s reps did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s requests for comment.

Nash later added a screen grab of what appeared to be a text message from his stepfather, Johnnie Floyd, updating him on Hayes’ condition. “Your brother is pretty busted up right now,” reads the message. “Luckily no major stuff. All scans came back for any internal bleeding. He does have a concussion, fractured two ribs and bruised lung on one side. He is in a lot of pain.”

Nash also started the hashtag #PrayforHayes, which is now trending on Twitter and filled with messages of support for the 16-yaer-old social media star.

Despite a rival trending — seemingly more negative — hashtag #HayesIsDeadParty popping up, the messages written there seem to mostly be supportive of Hayes as well.

“#HayesIsDeadParty This is disgusting, a 16 year old boy is in the hospital fighting for his life and you start this?” said one user. “How would you feel?”

It’s unclear where the latter hashtag originated.

After gaining a following for his popular 10-second videos on the video-sharing site Vine, Grier became a contestant on Season 21 of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” where he was partnered with Emma Slater and became the youngest contestant ever on the show. The pair finished in eighth place.
