17 Dec – "I just wanted to help small businesses."

Those were the words of Malaysia's songbird Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, who has been using her own social media accounts as a platform to promote various products from businesses that were affected by the pandemic.

The music icon, who sat down with Astro AWANI on 16 December, shared that she had no other intention but to help others when she first started promoting and reviewing food on her Instagram account.

"Some of these people could have been fired from their job, or could not continue with their employment due to some issues, and so on... so I tried to help as honestly as I can for these businesses," she said.

Although she had been receiving lots of these gifts from fans and acquaintances for the longest time, Datuk Siti - who was recently listed in Forbes Asia's Asia-Pacific 100 Most Influential Celebrities on Social Media - started to use the advantage rewarded to her to promote the items that include snacks and bakes following the Controlled Movement Order back in March - which had severely impacted small businesses.

"I was not born rich. My parents had always instilled this idea that we should always be humble, but not to the extent that people would trample on us," she added.

Aside from helping others, the currently pregnant singer has also been busy promoting her own brand BeauSiti, as well as her new album, "ManifestaSITI2020". Her latest song, "Kuasa Cintamu" recently reached more than a million views since it was released on 1 December.
