Folks, time to put public holidays back on our radar. Staycations are back in the game! The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) announced on 3 July that hotels would be able to take in guests for leisure purposes, provided they abide by a list of mandatory safety measures.
Here's a taster of what to expect at your staycation: Hotels need to keep occupancy to 50%, ensure stringent safe distancing measures and staggered use of shared facilities, frequent cleaning of high touch point areas with hospital-grade disinfectants, as well as adopt compulsory temperature screening of every single person who enters hotel premises. Hotels are also subject to regular inspections conducted by the STB.
No other industry has been more deeply impacted than the travel industry that has been brought to a standstill since coronavirus struck. Gone are the days when Singaporeans fly out of our homes at the drop of a hat. But why look back wistfully when you can have a staycation right now?
Did you know that there will be two upcoming long weekends to look forward to? On the last Friday of July, we will be having a Hari Raya Haji public holiday on 31 July. And on Monday, 10 August, we will be enjoying an extended celebration of our nation’s 55th birthday as National Day falls on a Sunday (9 August) this year.
Here’s a round-up of some of our favourite hotels for your staycation, with rooms still up for booking from 8 to 10 August. Remember, the number of rooms available are slashed by half, so book early to avoid disappointment!
