Singaporean Akif Halqi to share stage with K-pop stars at World Festival

A homegrown talent will be featured in one of the world’s biggest events dedicated to Korean pop music.

Singaporean dancer Akif Halqi, 21, will be representing his country at the K-pop World Festival in Changwon, South Korea on Friday (29 September) at 6pm Singapore time.

Akif, who is a full-time national serviceman, will be performing a popular ballad by K-pop artiste Taeyang called “Eye, Nose, Lips”, alongside two of his friends. Here’s a sneak preview of the performance posted by Akif on Instagram back in August:

The trio will be competing against teams from 12 other countries such as the United States, Canada and Hungary.

The festival will also feature performances by top K-pop stars such as Billboard-award winning group BTS and girl group TWICE.

The annual show will be streamed live by South Korean broadcaster KBS via YouTube and Twitter.
